Raw & Washed Wool Fleece

Raw Wool Fleece

We go to great lengths to keep our sheep's wool fleece in premium condition. Our sheep free range the idyllic rolling hills and woods of Southwest Wisconsin's Driftless Region; they enjoy a wide variety of naturally grown pasture and forest plants.  Because of this you will occasionally find small bits of organically grown vegetation in their fiber.  We do not coat or cover most of our sheep, this requires more effort in our feeding practice.  The un-coated raw wool fleeces that are exposed to the sun’s touch adds interesting color variation to the natural colored wool fleeces.  Our wool is high quality.  From the shearing floor it is well skirted, to remove any soiled and undesirable wool; this means that you receive only premium wool fleece.

Washed Wool Fleece

Our wool fiber has placed in the top of the Medium and Long wool Divisions of the Hand spinners class at the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival Fleece Show for both the colored and white raw wool fleece.

Most of our crossbred wool fiber falls into the medium crimp category.  This is a good wool fleece for spinning and felting.  The cross of Fine Wool breeds with the Long Wool breeds creates a medium wool that is easy to work with and has the wonderful long wool luster.

We also maintain a flock of purebred Cotswold sheep. The Cotswold sheep breed is a rare heritage breed that is listed as Threatened by The Livestock Conservancy. Their lustrous fleece is similar to mohair with a silky feel and dyes beautifully.

We shear in the spring and fall. If you are interested in a specific type or color, just contact us, we may have it.

We love our local post office and happily ship via USPS priority mail.
